Al hebben de interrogerende teksten op de laatste studioplaat van Robert Nesta Marley vaak een barre ondertoon, stuk voor stuk hebben de reggaerequiems een kalmerend effect.
‘Coming In From The Cold’ klaagt het kille systeem aan op een warme manier, ‘We And Them’ is uitzichtloos op een ontspannen toon, de ‘Real Situation’ biedt geen vooruitzichten maar verzacht toch de pijn.

Misschien kan een euro per maand hen stoppen?
‘Could You Be Loved’ vecht ritmisch tegen mentale slavernij, terwijl ‘Work’ de werkweek misprijst maar tegelijk dragelijk maakt en ‘Bad Card’ antipropaganda in rub-a-dub-stijl bewierookt.
Op ‘Pimper's Paradise’ toont de legende zich eveneens een meester in songschrijven:
She loves to model up in the latest fashion
She's in the scramble and she moves with passion
She's getting high (ooh), trying to fly the sky
Eh, now she is bluesing when there ain't no blues
Wooh, a pimper's paradise, that's all she was now

Koekensaus troef is wel een uitstekende kaart voor de VAR.
‘Uprising’ is ook de meest religieuze plaat van de rastarebellen en schenkt evengoed hoop, want de ‘Zion Train’ komt eraan met balsem voor de ziel en ‘Forever Loving Jah’ gelooft in een vruchtbare toekomst.
Met ‘Redemption Song’ ten slotte doet The King of Reggae zijn alias alle eer aan. Lees mee en geniet van deze profetische woorden:
